Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training Conducts an Advanced HVAC Training Course for Ministry of Defense Employees
Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training recently delivered an intensive five-day training course on chilled water central air conditioning units to a group of engineers and technicians from the Ministry of Defense.
Dr. Mohamed Abdulla Sharif, director of the institute, stated that the course formed a part of the participants’ continuous career development, and focused on the repair and maintenance of chilled water system types of central air conditioning units. They participated actively during the course, which included a factory visit, and were very keen to learn new skills in the troubleshooting of water chillers.
It is worth mentioning that this is the third specialized training course delivered by the training institute in the past two years, to the benefit of many Ministry of Defense employees. There are plans to deliver many more specialized training courses for various departments of the ministry in the near future.
Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training Receives Award for Outstanding Performance in Qualifying Saudi Aramco’s Contractor Technicians
Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training recently participated in the first Contractor Workforce Qualification Assurance Program (CWQAP) forum, held in Al-Khobar and attracting representatives from many contracting companies and training centers and institutes.
Mr. Nabil Al-Dabal, General Manager of Training and Development at Saudi Aramco, presented the trophy for best performance among all the Saudi Aramco-approved training centers and institutes to Dr. Mohamed Sharif, Director of the Institute.
Dr. Sharif, in accepting the award, stated that the prestigious top performer award was recognition of how Zamil strictly adhered to the high quality procedures and standards stipulated by Saudi Aramco for delivering qualification test preparation training courses as well as the qualification tests.
He added that the forum provided an excellent opportunity for all to learn more about the aims and objectives of CWQAP. The Institute gave a detailed presentation on the qualification test implementation at the Institute and the qualification preparation training course delivery methodology, which enabled them to achieve a high pass rate among those who attended the typical three-day qualification preparation course.
It is worth noting that Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training was the first training center to be approved by Saudi Aramco to conduct the qualification tests in 2014, and since then the Institute has helped over 700 technicians from different contracting companies to attend the qualification preparation courses and take the relevant tests for six key crafts: electricians, instrument technicians, machinists, HVAC technicians, metal pipefitters, and metal fabricators.
Delegation from the Saudi Council of Engineers Visits Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training
A delegation from the Saudi Council of Engineers, led by Eng. Khalid Al Melhem, Head of the HVAC branch, recently visited Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training. The group’s goal was to learn more about the institute’s services and programs and to discuss future cooperation in the implementation of selected courses.
The delegation met with Dr. Mohamed Sharif, director of the institute, as well as senior staff members. According to Dr. Sharif, the two parties discussed the implementation of short, specialized courses for engineers in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning technology, which would allow engineers to take advantage of the state of the art training experiences and equipment available at the institute.
After the meeting, the delegation eagerly took the opportunity to visit the workshops, laboratories and training classes and to speak with both trainers and trainees about their experiences.
Saudi Industrial Property Authority Delegation Visits Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training
A delegation from the Saudi Industrial Property Authority (MODON), headed by Eng. Mohammed Alswailem, director of the branches of MODON, recently visited Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training to evaluate the training programs and services that are offered by the institute and to explore ways to offer these services to various companies based at the industrial cities.
The team held a detailed meeting with Dr. Mohamed Sharif, director of the institute, along with senior staff members. Dr. Sharif indicated that the discussion with the MODON representatives covered ways for the institute to communicate effectively with businesses operating in various industrial cities and provide presentations of the available training services. Companies will then be encouraged to fully utilize the facilities at the institute to engage in new skill development and to expand the knowledge of their employees.
A tour of the training workshops was arranged for the visitors and they enjoyed the opportunity to meet with many trainers and trainees from various companies. They learned more about the standard of the training services offered, and the delegates were very impressed with the training programs as well as the wide-range of modern tools and equipment available at the institute.
Strategic Partnership between Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training and TPC Training Systems
Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training (ZHIIT) has recently signed a partnership agreement with TPC Training Systems, a leading American training systems and services company headquartered near Chicago, Illinois.
The new partnership will place the institute in a leading position compared with other training companies and institutions by providing more technical and vocational training services in various fields of technology. With the comprehensive training solutions and technologies that TPC Training Systems provides, the partnership will enhance the institute’s existing locally and internationally accredited training curriculums and facilities.
Dr. Mohamed Abdulla Sharif, director of the institute, stated that TPC’s innovative and comprehensive solutions address the constant challenges and requirements of maintenance and operation technicians across different manufacturing and service industries.
He added that an exhibition will be held at the institute in Dammam on December 5-6, 2017, featuring the expanded total training solutions available through the combination of training curriculums and facilities at both ZHIIT and TPC Training Systems. The exhibition will feature a virtual reality simulation crane and rigging operator training modules, as well as blended learning solutions to support all aspects of the technician training cycle.
Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training Successfully Delivers NEBOSH Training Course and Examination to Engineers
Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training recently completed a NEBOSH- UK International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (IGC) course for a group of 19 engineers and technicians from various companies.
Dr. Mohamed Sharif, the director of the Institute, stated that the institute delivered the training course and arranged for the international examination to be conducted at the institute under the supervision of the British Council. He added that the IGC certification is in high demand among various industries. It covers occupational health and safety policies and procedures that must be followed in a wide range of activities, including the building and construction, manufacturing and petrochemical industries.
Dr. Sharif indicated that the next IGC and IOGC (International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety) courses will start on July 9 and 23, 2017, respectively, and the registration is still open for those who are interested in completing the courses and examinations.
Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training Signs Training Agreement with Saudi KAD Contracting Company
Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training recently signed a training agreement with the Saudi KAD Contracting Company to train 60 of its Saudi employees in welding and fabrication technology as part of the first phase of the job localization (Saudization) program.
Dr. Mohamed A. Sharif, director of the Institute, stated that the training program has recently started; its duration is six months and it is designed to qualify young Saudis to work as competent welders and fabricators. He added that the training program consists of a number of courses, including technical English language, occupational safety and health, technical drawing, and applied mathematics, as well as theoretical and practical courses on flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) technology.
The training program focuses on welding mild steel plates and pipes of various thicknesses and diameters and in different welding positions, using the latest welding equipment that is available at the institute. The company expects employees to be able to professionally weld metals of various dimensions and in different positions.
Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training Receives Accreditation from NEBOSH-UK
Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training has recently been accredited by the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH-UK) to deliver the following two certificate training courses: International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety; and International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety.
Dr. Mohamed A. Sharif, director of the Institute, stated that the accreditation was granted to the institute to deliver the two internationally accredited certification training courses in occupational safety and health because the institute has fulfilled all the requirements and met the strict standards stipulated by NEBOSH-UK. He added that the duration of the first training course is 80 hours (16 days) and the duration of the second course is 34 hours (six days). The course participants are then registered to sit for the certification examinations that are supervised by the British Council.
He stated that the general certificate course is suitable for supervisors, engineers and other employees who are involved in occupational health and safety in various manufacturing and service industries, while the technical certificate course is targeted at managers, superintendents, supervisors and engineers who work in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries.
Dr. Sharif invites all owners, stakeholders and concerned parties at various private- and public-sector organizations to visit the institute and learn more about the internationally accredited training courses offered there.

Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training participated in the Training and Development exhibition that was organized by the Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Science and Technology Center (SciTech) in Al-Khobar and held from May 3 through May 5, 2016.
Dr. Mohamed Sharif, the director of the Institute, stated that the exhibition provided an excellent opportunity to meet with potential clients and the public at large and to describe the wide array of training programs and services that are offered by the Institute.
He added that many individuals and company representatives attending the exhibition were very interested in the training programs and specialized short courses available. Graduation of the First Batch of Schlumberger Company Trainees from Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training
Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training recently held a graduation ceremony for the first batch of Schlumberger Middle East Company trainees.
Dr. Mohamed Abdulla Sharif, the director of the Institute, revealed that 58 of Schlumberger company trainees have successfully completed and recently graduated from the Certificate in Oil Field Services Technology training program.
He added that the graduation ceremony was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Chief Executive Officer of the Oil and Gas Holding Company (Nogaholding); Dr. Chokri Benamor, Vice President and General Manager of Schlumberger Middle East; Abdul Mohsin Abdullah Al Ghamdi, the Vice President of Administration and HR at Zamil Industrial and the Executive Director of the Institute, along with many esteemed guests and the graduates themselves.
Dr. Sharif opened the ceremony by welcoming the guests and graduates and showing appreciation for their participation. This was followed by a speech by Dr. Benamor, in which he outlined the nature of the work of Schlumberger and explained the expectations that senior executives have for the Institute’s graduates. His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed Al Khalifa congratulated the graduates on their outstanding achievements and summarized the way forward after graduation.
The visitors were provided with an opportunity to tour the Institute’s training workshops and facilities, and were impressed with the standard of the training equipment, amenities and resources on offer.
The Certificate in Oil Field Services Technology training program is a 12-month training scheme that supplements specialized technical courses in areas such as oilfield cementing equipment and systems, and oil pumping and transportation components and systems, with additional courses on Technical English Language, Applied Mathematics, Occupational Health and Safety, and Work Ethics.
Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training Signs Training Agreement with National Contracting Company
Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training recently signed a training agreement with the National Contracting Company (NCC) to train 50 of their newly recruited Saudi employees as part of the localization of their technical jobs program.
Dr. Mohamed Abdulla Sharif, the director of the Institute, stated that the Institute will train the NCC employees in the electrical and electronics technology field in line with the company’s requirement for competent electrical and electronics technicians. Individuals who undergo the required training will progress to work on vital projects in electrical power transmission and distribution systems, and electrical substations.
Dr. Sharif added that the trainees will start their training program at the Institute by studying general and technical English language, occupational safety and health, fundamentals of computer applications and mathematics and science for technicians, before they commence specialized training courses to develop their technical skills. The duration of the program will be two years at the Institute followed by the completion of three months of on-the-job-training in the same field of specialization.
The program will provide participants with the technical skills required to repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment such as electric motors and generators, electrical power transmission and distribution lines. They will also develop a comprehensive understanding of the applications of electrical and electronics devices in electrical power control and the design, construction, testing and repair of electronic circuits.
Dr. Sharif concluded that the trainees’ progress will be evaluated on a continual basis throughout the training program. Once completed, the graduates will be accredited by the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) and will receive diplomas in electrical and electronics technology. Moreover, the accredited diplomas will enable the graduates to continue their education and training so that their skills, knowledge and capabilities are developed on a continual basis as part of the career development programs that are available within various organizations.
Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training Delivers a Specialized Training Course for the Ministry of Defense
Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training recently conducted a specialized training course on refrigeration and air conditioning technology developed primarily for a group of employees from the directorate of construction and maintenance of the Ministry of Defense in Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Mohamed Abdulla Sharif, the director of the Institute, stated that the participants consisted of engineers and technicians and the course content was developed to meet the specific requirements of the directorate. He added that the course focused on developing the practical skills and the underpinning knowledge required to maintain, diagnose and repair faults in various types of air conditioning systems.
The group attended theoretical and practical training sessions and visited the Zamil Air Conditioners manufacturing facilities in order to learn more about the procedures involved in the production of various air conditioning systems and units.
This specialized course is just one part of a continuous cooperation between the Institute and the Ministry of Defense. The Institute is currently developing a comprehensive training program for many of the ministry’s employees. The content of this training program will include technical English language skills as well as specialized practical and theoretical training units on operation and maintenance of various types of air conditioning systems and water chillers.

Zamil Industrial and Dammam College of Technology Sign Cooperation Agreement to Support Recruitment of Saudi Nationals
The agreement was signed by VP of Corporate Admin and Human Resources at Zamil Industrial, Abdul Mohsen A. Al Ghamdi, and the Dean of Dammam College of Technology, Mr. Ahmed A. Al-Thunayan. According to its terms, Zamil Industrial will provide a list of requirements within the specified professional and technical disciplines to Dammam College of Technology, and the College will provide a list of the candidates that meet the conditions set forth by the company. Zamil Industrial will then notify the College of the number and names of the accepted candidates upon completion of the recruitment process.

U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom Visits Zamil Industrial in Dammam
The United States Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Mr. James Smith accompanied by the U.S. Consul General in Dhahran, Mr. Joey Hood, paid a visit to Zamil Industrial Investment Co. (Zamil Industrial) on Saturday, 20 April 2013.
At the premises of the Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training in Dammam, His Excellency was received by Mr. Hamad A. Al Zamil, the CEO of Zamil Industrial, Abdulla M. Al Zamil, and other senior officials of the Institute. The tour of His Excellency included the Institute’s facilities, workshops and labs and was provided with detailed descriptions of the training programs, services and courses offered by the Institute to its trainees.
At the conclusion of the visit, His Excellency commended the quality of occupational programs, training devices and equipment and spoke of the need within the Kingdom for internationally accredited vocational training programs that meet the needs of many Saudi corporates and Individuals.
Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training Signs a Training Agreement with Saudi Aramco
Zamil Higher Institute for Industrial Training recently signed a two-year training agreement with Saudi Aramco to provide professional training to 102 of the company’s apprentices.
The Executive Director of the Institute, Abdul Mohsen Al-Ghamdi, stated that the training programs began on the 3rd of December 2012, after preparing and arranging the required resources and trainers in order to meet Saudi Aramco standards. The first year of the training program is academically oriented, with English language and mathematics included within other subject lessons, while technical and work related skills will be delivered during the second year of the program.
It is worth noting that the Institute has been approved and accredited by Saudi Aramco as a registered corporate training provider following delegate visits to the facilities and positive evaluations of the capabilities and standard of training services provided by the Institute.
